The client was experiencing significant moisture retention and mold throughout the ceiling, caused primarily by a failed, outdated exhaust fan and likely compounded by window-related moisture and original construction issues. The ceiling showed extensive mold growth, making a simple paint solution unsafe. Additionally, water-damaged MDF baseboards had swollen due to prolonged exposure to moisture

What we did

We determined the safest and most effective solution was full removal of the affected ceiling. The existing drywall was torn out, a new exhaust fan was installed and properly connected, and fresh drywall was installed throughout. Once the space was restored and properly ventilated, we completed painting of the ceiling and walls. As the room came together, the client chose to extend the scope to include trim painting and replacement of water-damaged MDF baseboards with moisture-appropriate materials.

Proper ventilation and new materials eliminated the moisture issue, while updated finishes unified the room.
